Administration Division
The Administration Division is composed of Sheriff Jim Lawson, Chief Deputy Sheriff Bill Hessler and Administrative Lieutenant Ray Huffman. Investigations Division Lieutenant Rick Spencer and Patrol Division Sergeants Troy Brown and Jeff Chitwood make up the remainder of the team.
Budget Report
The total budget for the Sheriff's Office as approved by the Board of Commissioners for 2009/10 was $1,779,465. Actual expenditures as of July 31 have been calculated at $196,041 or 11.01% of the budget. Ideal expenditures for this time of the year were projected at 8.33% by the Sheriff.
Overtime Report
Total overtime worked in January was 123 hours (amount paid $3,476).
Major reasons for the overtime include: replacement shifts (30%), Training (16%), Grants (15%), Drug Cases (11%), and Court (5%).

Total overtime for the same month one year ago was 173 hours. July 2009 figures indicate a 28.90% decrease in overtime.
Tax Collection Detail
77-1718 - "On or before October 1 of each year, the County Treasurer shall issue and deliver to the Sheriff of the county distress warrants against all persons having delinquent personal tax for that year."
Initially, letters are sent to all persons owing delinquent taxes. Deputies begin making personal contacts shortly after the first of the year.
These warrants become the responsibility of the Patrol Division under the direction of Administrative Lieutenant Ray Huffman.
