Administration Division
The Administration Division is composed of Sheriff Jim Lawson, Chief Deputy Sheriff Bill Hessler and Administrative Lieutenant Ray Huffman. Investigations Division Lieutenant Rick Spencer and Patrol Division Sergeants Troy Brown and Jeff Chitwood make up the remainder of the team.
Budget Report
The total budget for the Sheriff's Office as approved by the Board of Commissioners for 2007/08 was $1,759,908. Actual expenditures as of June 30 have been calculated at $1,754,771 or 99.70% of the budget. Ideal expenditures for this time of the year were projected at 100.00% by the Sheriff.
Overtime Report
Total overtime worked in June was 145 hours (amount paid $3,958).
Major reasons for the overtime include: Grants (58%), Replacement Shifts (13%), Training (12%), Court (4%) and Field work(5%).
Total overtime to date (fiscal year) is 2,388 hours. (amount paid $65,947).
Total overtime for the same month one year ago was 304 hours. June 2008 figures indicate a 52.30 % increase in overtime.
Tax Collection Detail
77-1718 - "On or before October 1 of each year, the County Treasurer shall issue and deliver to the Sheriff of the county distress warrants against all persons having delinquent personal tax for that year."
Initially, letters are sent to all persons owing delinquent taxes. Deputies began making personal contacts shortly after the first of the year.
These warrants become the responsibility of the Patrol Division under the direction of Administrative Lieutenant Ray Huffman.
