Deputy Jason Perkins, has been a Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Deputy since 2003 and has been an Officer since 2001. Deputy Perkins became the K-9 handler in 2004.

  • Dog Bodo, was born in Germany, May 8, 2002 and is a dual purpose dog, he is trained as a narcotic detector as well as a patrol functions.
  •  As a narcotic detector K-9, Bodo is trained to identify numerous odors of narcotics such as methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine and heroine. Bodo "indicates" his find by scratching at the location.
  • K-9 Bodo is certified as a narcotics dog through Oklahoma K-9 Academy, Nebraska State Patrol and National Police Canine Association.
  • As a patrol K-9, Bodo is trained to locate the track left by a suspect, fleeing the scene of a crime and follows the track until he locates the suspect. Bodo is also trained in apprehension and handler protection.

The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's K-9 Unit was brought together by donations by the community, it took approximately $12,000.00 was required to start the K-9 Unit. K-9 Bodo was purchased and trained at the Oklahoma K-9 Academy in Shawnee, Oklahoma by Rick Greenland.

Deputy Jason Perkins and K-9 Bodo are members of the USPCA Region 14 (Fort Collins, CO), members of DADDAC (Dogs Against Drugs-Dogs Against Crime) of Michigan, and a member of the Nebraska Canine Association. Deputy Perkins and K-9 Bodo also work very closely with the WING Drug Task Force and the Scotts Bluff County SWAT Team.
