Scotts Bluff County - Register of Deeds
The Register of Deeds office is responsible for the maintaining and securing of the land records of the county. It is a separate office in counties that have more than 20,000 in population. It is the duty of the Register of Deeds to record documents submitted for filing, in the order in which they are presented for filing, such as deeds, mortgages, assignments, releases, construction liens, tax liens (federal and state), UCC filings, plats, and other instruments and writings presented for recording.
Documents are first entered into the numerical tract indexes and then entered into the computer system, which automatically generates the alphabetical grantor / grantee indexes. All recorded documents are also microfilmed and scanned. A book and page number would be assigned to all documents recorded prior to January 1, 2000. An instrument number is assigned to each document recorded after January 1, 2000.
All documents recorded in the Register of Deeds office are public record. Therefore, copies of any recorded documents are available to view or purchase. Primary users of this office include realtors, title and abstract companies, banks, law firms, appraisers and genealogists.
Notice: The Register of Deeds' office has finished scanning all of the Deed and Miscellaneous records into our imaging system, and those images are now available online. You can simply search by book number. Once you retrieve the book you want, you open the book and then go to the appropriate page within the book. Please use "Quick Search by Book Number". For example - you are looking for an image at Deed Book 2, page 50. Go to our website and select "Quick Search by Book Number". Place a "2" in the search box and press "search". Double click on the Deed Book 2 to "open" the book. Right click on the first page of the book and select "Go To Page Number". Enter the page number you wish to see and press enter. If you do not end up on the appropriate page, use the front and back arrows to move from page to page.
The Register of Deeds office is pleased to announce that our land indexes are available online. These records "officially" date back to January 1, 2000. We are in the process of adding records from prior years, and the web site will be updated as new records are added.

Index of Deeds Additions - contains information concerning all of the plats which are filed in our office. They are alphabetized by subdivision / addition name. As new plats are filed, they are added to the list. We have set up a link to get to the appropriate plat so you can view the document and / or print it. Any documents filed before the year 2000 are set up by book / page. The link takes you to the appropriate book so you can then go to the page referenced.
