Early Absentee Ballot Request Form

In Nebraska, anyone who is registered to vote may apply for an Early Absentee Ballot. Nebraska Law requires a signature on all requests for an Early Absentee Ballot.

Early Absentee Ballot Deadlines:

  • The Election Office may accept applications for an Early Absentee Ballot 120 days before an Election.
  • Registrants may vote an Early Absentee Ballot 35 days prior to a Statewide Election and 15 days before Special Elections.
  • Requests for Early Absentee Ballots to be mailed must be received in the Election Commissioner's office by Wednesday, May 9th, 2012 at 4:00 pm. That is the deadline for the Election Office to mail out an Early Absentee Ballot for the May 15, 2012 Primary Election.
  • After May 9, 2012, voters interested in casting an Early Absentee Ballot must personally come into the Election Office and vote an Early Absentee Ballot or pick up an Early Absentee Ballot.
  • Early Absentee Ballots will not be mailed after 4:00 p.m. on the Friday before the Election.
  • Agents have until 7:00 p.m. Election Day to pick up an Early Absentee Ballot.
  • All Early Absentee Ballots must be received by the Election Commissioner by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.

Voters have the following options to obtain an Early Absentee Ballot:

  • Download the Early Absentee Ballot Request Form (the link is located below), print, complete the form, sign it, and then mail or fax the form to the Election Office by the deadline. Or, you may complete the form while online, print and sign the form and mail it to the Election Office by the deadline.

  • Contact the County Election Commissioner's Office to request that an Early Absentee Ballot Request Form be mailed or faxed to you. You may call or write a letter requesting that an Early Absentee Ballot be mailed to you by including your name, your address, and the address where you would like the Early Absentee Ballot sent if it is different than your registered address. Please be sure to sign the letter.
  • Beginning on Monday, April 9, 2012, voters may come directly to the County Election Commissioner's Office and cast an Early Absentee Ballot for the May 15, 2012 Primary Election in person or to take an Early Absentee Ballot with them.
