Frequently Asked Questions

 

Who should I contact if an emergency has occurred and I need to forward the information to an inmate?
Ask for the Shift Supervisor, explain your situation, and he/she will assist you.

When can an inmate be bonded out of jail?
An inmate can bond out of jail at anytime 24 hours a day.
Cash, money orders or cashier checks are the only forms of money accepted.

Will the Corrections Department take a personal check?
No. The Department can only accept cash, money orders, or cashiers check.

How much credit will I receive toward my fines for each day I serve in Jail?
$60 a day will be given credit, if a written order is given to us by the court stating that fines and cost shall be credit out by time served.

Can the Corrections Department tell me when someone is scheduled for release?
No. The Corrections Department will not release this information. You must contact the inmate or register with VINE, if applicable.

When and where can I place money on an inmate's account?
Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
$100 limit with exception of bond money and payroll checks.
When can inmates buy items from the commissary?
Inmates may purchase items from commissary on Tuesday. He/she will need to have the money in his/her account by 3:30 p.m. on Monday.

Can one inmate transfer money to another inmates account?
·No money or property can be transferred from one inmate to another.

When an individual is released, in what form will their inmate account be returned to them?
If upon release the inmate has $5.00 or less in his/her account, it will be given to them in cash.
If upon release the inmate has more than $5.00 in his/her account, a check will be disbursed and may be picked up after 1:00 p.m. the next working day.

How can I contact an inmate by phone?
Telephone calls cannot be placed to inmates. Inmates have daily access to phones that allow them to place collect local and long distance calls.

Can I bring in a book or magazine to an inmate?
No books, magazines, personal hygiene items, cigarettes, candy, gum or any other item may be brought into or sent to the facility for an inmate unless previously approved by the Captain or Administrator.

May I send mail to an inmate?
Inmates may generally correspond through the mail with whom they choose, as long as the correspondence does not jeopardize the public or facility safety or security. Incoming mail will not be delivered to inmates if it contains contraband items, stickers, stamps, or stains. Books and magazines must be sent directly from a publisher. Inmates may purchase envelopes and stamps from commissary, so these items will not be given to inmates if received in the mail.

Mail may include personal photographs with the exception of:

  • No backing on photos.
  • No Polaroid photos.
  • No sexually explicit photos.
  • No "Gang" related photos.
  • No photos depicting criminal activity.
